Academy Task 5: Turk Deep Dive
#1
Deep dive time! I want to take a look at a player this season. This player has been arguably, no, undeniably, the most valuable player. He has the highest average rating per game in the league, the most number of players of the games, and has led his team to the top of the standings.

Spoiler: It’s me.

First I want to give a lot of the credit to @Crunk . It’s impossible to imagine our team succeeding without his great tactics. He’s also helped give pointers on builds and was a generally pretty good manager. Second, I want to thank @roquefort for his help in my build. Crunk can only do so much magic, and the great build Roque gave me has been the difference between my success and failure. Finally, thank you to the really weird academy system. I don’t know about you guys, but I don’t care how close my team is to the canonical birthplace of my player. I’m not complaining here though, because this system allows Port Royal to have the best team, since most players are from the USA. This elite talent has let Turk truly shine.

The Port Royal squad is composed of the nine finest players you’ll ever see. Leading the way, I have to say, is myself, Matt Turk. Turk’s 6 goals are 11th in the league, and his 5 assists are tied for 9th. This might be a very contrived statistic, but there is only one other player in the league that is top 11th in both stats, and it's one of Turk's teammates. Turk has run up and down the field, doing everything from defense to passing to scoring. As a defensive right back playing in a system of all attacking, Turk has mastered all aspects of the game. Turk’s 59 dribbles are second in the league, and his 192.2 kilometers run is also second. He’s everywhere on the field and keeping the team moving. His 44 key passes are tied for 5th in the league, his 32 successful crosses are also 5th in the league, and he has a league high 22 chances created. While Turk might not have gotten the flashiest stats, goals and assists, this man has been going in all game every game and supporting the entire Port Royal team.

Turk has also played solid defense. He comes in 6th with the league with 44 tackles won, and is also tied 5th with 38 interceptions. 28 clearances puts him 8th among players (excluding bots). No matter what aspect of the game you look at, Turk is up there on the leaderboards. It’s no surprise he has the highest average rating in the league with 7.77, and the most player of the matches with 4.

One last thing I want to talk about is Turk’s extraordinary start. He was average late in the season, but those first four games, I can confidently say, are the greatest first four games of a player’s career. You disagree? Let’s look.

First, Turk was the player of the week, across all games, twice in the first four weeks. He posted a 9.6 rating in his debut, and a beautiful 10.0 rating in his fourth. No one else won two player of the weeks all season. Now let’s look at the stats, because my god they were good. Unfortunately, I only have stats from 5 weeks into the season (and you best believe I’m not going through and adding all the stats for the first four games), but it should give you the idea of things.

Turk had an 8.34 average rating. That alone should say a lot, because it’s through 5 whole games. Turk had an 8.9 rating through 4 games, but that’s the only statistic I remember through week four. Turk had 5 goals, second in the league. Yes, you heard me right. 5 of Turk’s 6 goals were through four weeks. Holy falloff? Maybe. But that’s not relevant. Turk also had 3 assists, so in total he was directly responsible for 8 goals. If Turk kept up this pace, which yes, is a massive and unrealistic if, he would have 12 goals and 7 assists to end the season, which would be 3rd and 4th in the league respectively. Turk was also tied second in key passes and first in crosses, along with a league leading 9 chances created. He also had 22 dribbles, which led the league, and second in the league for tackles. Those rankings are essentially Turk’s already MVP numbers, on steroids. Really good steroids. Looking through those first four games, where Port Royal went 3-1, the entire game seemed to run through the right side of the field. Turk’s side of the field. Four dazzling performances to start off a historic season.

A final note: I think we can all agree Turk was dominant. However, this was all sim luck, great strats, and great teammates. I get minimum credit for doing average earning. This was beautiful to watch, and hopefully this leads to a great career, but it was also very lucky. For all of us who witnessed this season and enjoyed it, cheers. For all of you that didn’t enjoy it as much? At least it won’t happen again. Probably. Thanks for reading, have a good day, and keep earning so your player can be as sim blessed as mine ;)
