The Fairytale of Reykjavik
#1
Mrs. Crunk has started playing Christmas music around the house. Sigh.

So for my article this week, I rewrote The Pogues' Christmas classic The Fairytale of New York to be about Liffeyside's shock 3-1 win over Reykjavik United recently.

Enjoy, or whatever.

--------------

It's Saturday night
In the locker room
A wise GM says to me
"Will be a tricky one.
We're playing Reykjavik
It isn't smart to hope"
We total TPE
And think up ways to cope

As an expansion team
Sometimes you dare to dream
But then you shouldn't
When you know its too bleak
So never mind lads
We'll beat em next year
Or the one after that
When Liffey hits our peak

Well the game, it kicks off, but we don't look outclassed
Snor Lax is a hero, their shots won't go past
It falls to Pedrillo on the edge of the box
He hits one so sweet it'll never be stopped
It's half time, we're winning - wait, what? Yes we're winning
Alex Stain finds Dybala, and he makes it two
The finish was clutch, the fans cheer every touch
As we keep possession to see the match through

Then Dybala cuts in from the right and aims at the back stick
And the boys go 3-0 up at Reykjavik
