Masques squander many chances in defeat
#1
Montréal United showed they were no pushovers with a 3-1 victory over Masques Sacrés last night.

Their victory moves them into 6th place in the table while Masques stay in 4th. Masques would have earmarked this fixture as must win as it would have solidified 4th place and given them a 7 point cushion over 5th.

Despite Masques having more shots than Montréal (31 - 11) it was Montréal who produced the better chances and took the chances when they came. While each of Masques Sacrés shots equated to a 0.12xg average, Montréal waited for better chances to arrive with each of their shots averaging out to be 0.25xg.

Minjeong managed to get a brace on the night taking both his chances with aplomb. Schmidt also managed to get his name on the scoresheet but it was Silakka who was man of the match with his 3 assist night. Masques couldn't get near him and he fully put them to the sword ensuring it was Montréal who would come out on top. Warrick managed to score what turned out to be a consolation for Masques.

Masques will not go as far as "back to the drawing board" regarding their tactics but will want to improve the quality of chances they are creating to see if they can unlock the potential of this attack. At times throughout the season they have played some wonderful football but on nights like this, it can be a frustrating to see so many chances created but not taken.
