Johnboy Maiava Arrives
#1
Anticipation probably wasn't the word most Stockholm fans had on their lips when the signing of fringe Samoan midfielder Johnboy Maiava was announced as a relative unknown to the Swedish footballing circuit. Further confusion was generated when it was revealed they had signed him not from a football club but from College Rifles Rugby Club in Remuera Auckland. This confusion, somewhat unbelievably, was tripled when it was revealed that the extent of Johnboy's footballing prowess was curb stomping his little cousins in Fifa at christmas parties and slide tackling his infant brother in their backyard. A ranging flanker in the under 85 kg grade, this meant absolutely nothing to the befuddled Swedish scouts when they were first introduced to him by local scouting prodigy Jeremiah Nanai. What did stand out to them however, was Johnboy's bordering on obsessive focus with scoring. Whilst admittedly playing a variety of accountants, plumbers and electricians Johnboy reeled off 15 tries in 8 games in the Club rugby season as the College Rifles Raiders surged to a last placed finish for the fifth consecutive year.

With a n above average turn of pace, and alright athleticism Johnboy truly is one of the players of time. he isn't even really the best prospect out of New Zealand or Auckland and when he takes the field for Stockholm he will be playing his first games of Football ever. But despite his lack of experience, talent and athleticism there is a dogged determination to, in the wise words of an ancient Kiwi scholar "go through the cunts". Come hell or highwater Johnboy will score goals, the ultimate issue becomes will he be kept around long enough to see the scouts vision to fruiion. Time will tell if the Stockholm scouts have found a diamond in the rough... or simply struck dirt.

An enjoyable read and proper introduction to Johnboy Maiava! This article was generally clear, grammatically sound, and had a logical structure. However, it lacked a bit of the compelling insights and high-quality narrative that would bring it to the 4's and 5's of grading. Minor stylistic improvements could significantly enhance its quality.
