After a great start of the campaign which saw Romana rose to the top of the table for a few matchdays the Italian side has been afflicted with a patch of disappointing results and a really bad schedule as of late. So bad in fact that their last 4 games have been against the teams that are directly above them in the table, to make matters worse, out of 12 possible points the Italian side has only managed to collect one of them, that being a 2-2 draw against CD Tenochtitlan in the 17th Fixture of the league.
Right now they don’t even depend on their own results, on the last matchday they will face the last top 5 team that they haven’t played yet, Shanghai Dragons, which has already secured 4th place in the standings regardless of how they do on Saturday afternoon. In their previous meeting earlier in the season the game ended up in a 3-3 tie. If that were to happen again it would put an end to Romana’s first division hopes.
For the Italian side to claim the last spot of the top 6 and thus qualify to the first division of the Majors they need to win against Shanghai Dragons and hope that 8th place Xelaju Cosmico can beat or draw against the team currently occupying 6th place, Liffeyside Celtic FC.
Will Romana be able to rescue a late, overdue win on their grueling top 5 gauntlet run? Or will a completely different team claim that last 6th spot? Tune in this coming saturday to find out!
