SSL Accepting Donations
#1
Did you know running the SSL costs money?

The ongoing costs for the league are related to server hosting, domain subscription and a league cloud storage system which in total sum up to around $50 USD per month or approximately $600 USD per year. Over the past 23 seasons, these costs have been paid for personally by @Canadice.  To help mitigate the cost of running the league, we have opened up the ability to donate to the SSL.

Donations
Donating finanically is easy and can be done through Paypal or via Ko-fi.

Paypal offers lower fees transferring funds from one Paypal account to another while Ko-fi allows more standard payment options but higher fees. The following fees are implemented:
A $5 USD donation directly through Paypal or Paypal via Ko-fi nets $4.48.
A $1 USD donation directly through Paypal or Paypal via Ko-fi nets $0.62.
A $5 USD donation through Ko-fi nets $4.09.
A $1 USD donation through Ko-fi nets $0.49.

If around 50 users were to donate $12 USD per year we would cover all ongoing costs for hosting. If we were to get a significant excess of funds during a calendar year, the excess will be donated during the yearly Charity Drive.

For more information and instructions about the league expenses and how to donate, check out the donation post

The SSL also heavily relies on Discord, so we are presenting individuals with the opportunity to boost the main SSL Server. To do so, you can follow the instructions in the donation post

Rewards
Aside from feeling good about financially supporting the SSL community, any user who donates financially or through a server boost will receive a permanent forum badge. You can fine what those look like in the donation post

Other rewards will be announced as they become available. There is no player based incentive here for donating and we don’t plan on awarding site money or TPE for real money donations to the SSL, this is purely voluntary.

If you have any questions or concerns please feel free to reach out to any BoD member.

On behalf of the SSL Board of Directors,
GHamss
