Third of the season gone - Minor Recap
#1
3 games gone (4 if you include the cup qualifiers) and it's time to look at the league and see if there is anything surprising to what we might have expected at the start of the season.

1st - F.C. Kaapstad

Only team that is currently unbeaten in Division 1, they will be thrilled with the start they have made. Beating AS Paris in their first game really set the marker for their season and showed they meant business early doors. If it wasn't for a slightly disappointing draw against Krung Thep in their last match, they could be 3 points clear and thinking of what might be come the end of the season. As it is, they only have a 1 point cushion. Their next match against AS Paris could decide the title (MD7) so they won't want any slip ups. They are in control of their own destiny.

2nd - AS Paris

A somewhat disappointing loss to start their season has been turned around with 2 victories putting them at the top end of the table, exactly where we exact last seasons champions to be. Sporting the best attack and defence currently in the league shows that they still have the ability to punish teams and any talk of their demise has been grossly taken overboard. One area of concern for them will be the massive dip in form of star striker Eric Belmont. No goals, no assists and sporting an average below 6.8 this is not the Belmont most fans know. While they are still doing well without him contributing, is this the beginning of the end of Belmont? Or is this a blip that will rectify itself in the coming games?

3rd - AF Masques Sacrés

They will be very pleased to be in this position. They have only lost to the current leaders and won their other games convincingly and are outsiders to the title but in the hunt. Their next match against AS Paris will show us if they are legitimate contenders or next-year wannabe's. Their new striker partnership of Cat and Walker appears to be paying dividends with them scoring 6 goals between them (3 each) and responsible for 66% of the goals for the team. They will want to see more of this to continue on this title challenge and see just how far they can go.

4th - Krung Thep FC

Pre-season I had these guys finishing 5th, so to see them in 4th is a great sign for the future. With a draw against Kaapstad showing they are no pushovers, they will continue to fight to get away from them bottom two positions. They have already beaten CS Rova Mpanjaka earlier this season to keep them below them in the table, something as long as they do again should be enough to still safe. In their next 3 fixtures they will be playing Montréal United and CS Rova Mpanjaka which will go largely to determining how their seasons pans out.

5th - CS Rova Mpanjaka

I expected better, I thought maybe 3rd was in reach, now they are reaching NOT to be relegated. I don't know if it's just been the way the matches have went or they have just been poor. I just know they are in trouble. In a shortened 10 game season, every match and every point counts. A 1-0 perhaps points to being closer to them than the teams above, with Montréal United being handily beaten in their other fixtures. They need a spark but I'm not sure where it's going to come from.

6th - Montréal United

0 Point, 2 goals, 10 conceded and I think even at this early stage, condemned to division 2. They've have a horrible start against bigger teams but in those matches looked to lack the quality to compete. It is a long way back and they already look to need help from other teams to salvage this season at all. I had them finishing last and looks like that is on track to be the case.
