Academy Task 5: A preview of the S26 Class
#1
Today we will be analyzing the season 26 draft class, and looking towards the future to help teams prep for the S26 draft. The S26 class is one of the strongest draft classes the league has seen. Not because of how big or grand it is, but because of the amazing retention that has gone on with the class. In a class of 62, only 8 have gone inactive, and one of those inactives is retiring and not even draft eligible. That means that, during the draft, ~88.5% of all projected draftees are active right now. Usually draft classes tend to see that number closer to 50, but yet the S26 class continues to persevere and defy odds. I will only use the actives for stats moving forwards, as they are the relevant players. The average TPE of the active S26 class is at 333.5 TPE, with a median of 330.5. This results in the average player having earned a little over 80 TPE so far. However, TPE of the whole class only tells some of the story, and doesn’t provide much insight. Instead, I am going to go over some of the positions.

There are currently 9 CMs in this class, with an average TPE of 327, and 8 STs in the class, average TPE being 339. Considering that all of these guys are actives, I expect teams to let CM and ST players fall a little more than one may expect in the draft due to the high quantity of active players there are. However, on the other hand, some of the highest TPE players actually fall under the less popular positions (for the draft class). There are only 2 RWBs, RDs, and CDMs. I would like to highlight some players I think will be going higher in the draft than expected due to positional needs. I wanted to say S Sei because they are one of only two CDMs, but considering they’re already in the top 5 for class TPE I don’t think it would be a surprise if they get taken very early. Instead I will look at Scorp E. Unshark, who is one of only two RDs in this class, and is at 353 TPE. They’ve been earning well at a less popular position so I could see them jumping some of the higher earners. Additionally, the two RWBs, Alex Pena and Christopher Bergmann, are both earning very well and are the only two RWBs in this class. They are prime choices to be picked high due to positional need.

Also on a sidenote, this class has 12 people with multiple capital letters in their last name. I’m not sure what this means exactly, but there are enough people that I found it interesting. More people have multiple capital letters in their last name than people that have gone IA! I’m really excited to be a part of this draft class and see how much havoc we can wreak in the SSL. Shoutout S26!
