Academy Predictions - Week 12
#1
MED vs. ACC

Atletico comes into the matchup in last place in the standings with a record of 2 wins, 2 draws, and 7 losses giving them a total of 8 points. Nothing has seemed to go their way this season. their offense has been abysmal for most of the season, ranking last in goals forced, while their defense has only been marginally better, ranking tied for fifth in goals allowed. This team did just get assigned though, so things should be looking up with them bringing in some user players.

Adowa Accra FC is coming off of a convincing 4-2 win over Port Royal in week 11. They currently sit in fourth in the standings with a record of 5 wins, 2 draws, and 4 losses giving them 17 points on the season. Their offense has been outstanding this season, coming in with a second place ranking with 28 goals forced, while their defense has been lacking, allowing a total of 26 goals. They have been very good during stretches this season and lacking during some others. They will be hoping for some wins and the other teams atop them in the standings to slip this week if they want a shot at the top of the standings.

Prediction:

MED 2 - 4 ACC

SIK vs. IFK

Every time things seem to be looking up for Stockholm this season, something else comes along to trip them up. They have an evenly split record with 5 wins, 1 draw, and 5 losses which is good for 16 points, or fifth place in the standings. Even with a low ranking like that, Stockholm is in 2nd place for difference in goals scored/allowed with a +5 difference. Their wins have been really convincing this season, but their losses have been tighter. They have a team that can make some waves, but this doesn't seem to be their year.

Istanbul was sitting really pretty in the standings until last week's loss to PSJ. They are currently sitting at 6 wins, 1 draw, and 4 losses and 19 points. If they could have pulled out the game against PSJ last week they would be tied for first in points with VFE, but with the loss they sit at third with 19 total points. Istanbul has plenty of time to close that gap, but they have to play better than they did in week 11.

Prediction:

SIK 2 - 1 IFK

SYD vs. PSJ

Sydney had a HUGE win in week 10 but followed that up with a dud showing against VFE last week. Currently Sydney is sitting in seventh place with 9 points and a record of 2 wins, 3 draws, and 6 losses. The season is mostly a wash for Sydney, but they still have their pride to play for. They welcome in PSJ in week 12 and hope to play spoilers against the tied-for-first-place PSJ squad.

Jakarta is riding a three-game winning streak and has pulled even with VFE in points on the season. They have brought their record to 7 wins, 1 draw, and 3 losses, tied with VFE with 22 points on the season. Jakarta had issues scoring goals early in the season, they are behind in goal difference to VFE by 18 goals, so they are more than likely going to have to take the point title outright if they want to be Academy Champions this season.

Prediction:

SYD 2 - 3 PSJ

PRF vs. VFE

Port Royal comes into week 12 having split their last 3 games evenly at 1-1-1. That leaves them in 6th place on the season with 13 points and a record of 4 wins, 1 draw, and 6 losses. If they lose or draw one more game, they will be mathematically eliminated, not that they have much chance at this point, as they can only hope to match the 22 points scored by VFE and PSJ this season. PRF still has some studs though, and I expect them to try their hardest to play spoiler the rest of the way.

Victoria Falls is still at the top, but their lead has narrowed significantly. PSJ has pulled even with them in points, but VFE still has a +18 GD over them. The main goal the rest of the way for VFE will be to not stumble. They have scored 14 more goals than the next closest team. This team can obviously play. If they can go out and do what they have been doing all season, they should have the best shot at winning the title this season.

Prediction:

PRF 3 - 2 VFE
