What's in a name?
#1
What's in a name, that which we call a Grimace? By any other name would a milkshake smell as sweet? I don't know why his parents chose the name Grimace for him but let's explore what that means. A grimace is a twisting or contortion of the face that expresses pain, disgust, or disapproval. Why would you name your child after this? We they upset by the pregnancy or disgusted by the purple monstrosity that came out? These don't seem to hold true as Grimace's parents were fairly loving people with flaws aplenty but regretting having a child was not one of them. Did they perhaps expect his life to be unfairly hard, looking the way he does, and preceded the pain with a name to match it. Wear the burden proudly as it were? That sounds like a more reasonable explanation even if a bit heavy on the heart. Know what else is heavy on the heart? All that dairy and sugar in a milkshake. It didn't do Grimace any favours in the health department or his physique. However at this point in his life Grimace would believe that he has overcome the hardships. A grotesque face and body, a name to make others feel negatively about him, an addiction forced upon him by those he thought were friends and family. He is now a football player. He is a star rising. He will be more than anyone expected, in spite of them.
