With the academy season ending with a final day shootout PS Jakarta are the champions of the league! With that the Academy season is brought to a close and the Class of 26 will begin their draft day preparations. Many members of the class cant wait to be drafted and with the announcement of multiple expansion teams coming in a few seasons many players will not be at their current clubs in 2 seasons time. With the draft only a few weeks away I took some time and talked to Jimothy Erickson about the season he and Port Royal had, here's what he had to say.
"Honestly if I said I was happy where we finished I would be the biggest liar in the world. I think we had the players and the staff to get us into the top of the academy but we were very unlucky and very switched off at times. I take blame for that as well I am sure my fellow team mates will say, I needed to be better and hope to improve my skill and my technique heading into the draft. Although our season has ended I am not going to stop training I have a lot of work to put in before the draft to hopefully be drafted in the first two rounds!"
I followed up asking Jimothy what his dream club would be, he gave what I would consider a very media trained but honest answer he said the following.
"Whichever team drafts me I will be happy, never in my wildest dreams would I think I would be playing this sport professionally. I am prepared to do whatever the club that drafts me needs of me, as long as they don't ask me to put on the gloves and head into the net. But no I do not have a preferred team to go to, whichever team drafts me I can promise you this. You won't regret it. I have been proving bullies and others wrong my whole life. I am not going to stop giving my 110% now that I am getting ready to head into the real deal. That's where the work actually starts I am ready for the long days and the grueling training. Whatever I can do to be the best person I can be, that is my goal. So I have one thing to say to those who ever doubted me. Keep watching, keep talking trash, it is not going to change a thing. I will be one of the best players the league has seen and am ready to prove all of you wrong. I will make you doubters to believers."
With that Jimothy went back to his individual training, Jimothy Ericksonn who played every game for Port Royal, ended the season with one of the highest completed passes of the academy although as he said previously stats don't matter. The hard work and dedication to his craft is what matters to him. I believe Jimothy Erickson will be one of the hotter prospects, and I believe he will be the first central defender drafted in this draft on June 7th.
