The off season has begun. While this is not my first sim league off season, it is my first SSL off season. Right now, all off seasons feel very long. I imagine it is a good indicator if you feel anxious to get started.
One of the things I really like about this league is the State of the League announcements. The other league I am in stopped doing these for whatever reason. I think these announcements are an important tool to help users understand where the league is going and what the team is working on to improve the league. It has me looking forward to what is coming here. As a relatively new sim leaguer, I have not participated in major league changes before.
I am really excited for expansion. I am especially interested to see how teams plan and strategize for it starting with this coming draft class. What decisions will teams make in this draft in preparation for the coming expansion draft? Which players will they protect? How will the expansion teams build their rosters? While I might not be in the war room for those discussions, I am hopeful teams will share their strategies after expansion in some sort of a retrospective.
Something that is already happening that I am excited for is the draft. As I understand this is the second largest class of all time. After looking at all the mocks, it really seems like there is not much consensus even in the first round. The draft presentation cannot come quick enough.
