Montreal was one of two teams created in the S2 Expansion increasing the league from 6 to 8 teams. The team was founded by user @Big Newff. The above image depicts the team logo featuring a fleur-de-lis symbolizing French royalty reflecting the French history and influence in Montreal. The graphic also shows the kits Montreal used in their debut season. The creation of Montreal placed the 3rd team in the Western Hemisphere in the League.

Montreal's debut roster consisted of 9 players from the Expansion Draft, 4 players from the S2 Rookie Draft, and 1 player claimed from Waivers.
During Season 2 Montreal made the following roster moves:
Traded Puttanesca for C.J. O'Broussard
Waiver Claims: Siilver Druid and Kofi Anshah

In their debut season, Montreal finished respectably 5th with 16 pts.

At the end of S8 Big Newff stepped down from being Montreal General Manager, and was replaced with @tomtommen by the Board of Directors. In S12 the League had a realignment resulting in the merger of teams into 8 Organizations. Montreal was merged with SFV, the result was Tom accepting one of the two Assitant Manager roles by deferring to SFV's Duilio05 as the Organizational Manager. At the end of S18 Duilio stepped down, and @Puppy took over as Organizational Manager. Tom is still involved in team management, and after 11 seasons with the team, they enjoyed having their player help lead Montreal to their first League Title in S19.

With the start of S20 the team debut an updated logo and jerseys. The intent for updating the Montreal logo was for a cleaner look while adding additional references to Montreal such as the mountain peaks and to create cohesion & symmetry between the Organizations Major & Minor Team brands. The jerseys were made to celebrate the S19 league title.
Schwarzwälder Fußballverein was created, developed and started with GMs @Duilio05 and @FaraDian in S10. Initial concept was discussed as early as S8. Active team members @Shnitzl and @_Blitz_ provided significant support, input and help developing details and logos for Schwarzwälder Fußballverein.
The number of SSL teams based in Europe reflects the sport's popularity there, but the league lacked a representative in Germany to honor the great footballing nation. Fußball in Germany dates back to the turn of the 20th century and the country has the second most World Cup titles. (Every World Cup winner had an SSL team except Germany and Uruguay.) Schwarzwälder Fußballverein (SFV), also known as Black Forest, was created to be the German representative for SSL.

The stark white team bar sets us apart, as does our signature black and white home kits. The team seeks to establish and recall tradition both of the sport and of the home region. Stationed in Pforzheim, Baden-Württemberg, Germany, the team plays home games at the fully remodeled Brötzingen Valley Stadium. The stadium is named Drei-Täler-Kampfbahn (Three Valley Arena). Constructed as much as possible from renewably-sourced lumber, this wooden behemoth reflects the forbidding nature of the Schwarzwald itself. Like the logo, the stadium calls to mind the dark forests of Grimm fairy tales, a place where magic and danger live side by side.

Kits and training gear will of course be provided by German brand Adidas. Home fans will be excited to watch the team play in classic schwarz und weiß: “eerie black” and “snow white.” Change kits will additionally feature the region’s signature kiefer and kirsch. Kiefer, “evergreen”, is for the prevalent firs, pines, and spruce trees of the forest. Kirsch, “cherry”, for Kirschwasser; the region’s sour cherry brandy that features in the famous Schwarzwälder Kirschtorte, a chocolate and cherry cake.
