I need to make some league cash to afford training for my Dragon, so I decided to bring my DSFL predictions series to the SSL! I still don't know anything about any of these teams, other than I know I now play for Jakarta lmao. I'm hoping this will be a good way for me to start learning the players who I will be seeing for the next however many seasons a full career is.
Port Royal F.C. vs. Sydney City
Port Royal will be at home in this matchup. They currently sit at number 6 in the standing with a record of 3 wins and 5 losses. Sitting 7 points out of first place, they have a lot of catching up to do, but their -9 PD is telling to how they have played to this point in the season. AM Barry McGlynn has been the star outfielder for Port Royal through 8 games, with an average rating of 7.3. He currently has 3 goals and an assist on the season while completing 87.8% of his passes. In the net, Scott Sterling Legend has been playing his butt off, saving 72.22% of shots on the goal.
Sydney City comes into week 9 tied for last in the Academy with a record of 1 win, 2 draws, and 5 losses. They have scored 15 goals on the season, but have let up a staggering 26, the most in the Academy to this point. Their WB Gold Ship has been the highest rated player in the outfield to this point, averaging a 7.08 rating for Sydney. They have been far from efficient to this point in the season, but they're doing what they can in their situation. In the net for Sydney City has been GK Eric Duic. Duic currently has the second lowest save percentage for all GKs who have played more than 200 minutes in the net. Things just haven't been going Duic's way this year.
Prediction:
PRF 3 - SYD 1
Istanbul F.K. vs. Atletico
Istanbul has had a very up-and-down season to this point. Currently sitting in fourth in the standings, they have compiled a record of four wins, three losses, and a draw to this point. M/AM Jake Ronaldo has been playing lights out through the first four games, averaging the fifth highest rating in the league. He has 5 goals and 3 assists on 20 shots thus far and has completed 86.16% of his pass attempts. Istanbul has rolled out two separate GKs this season, and they have both been playing outstanding! Tony Roberts has the second highest save percentage in the league, next only to teammate Zryachiy "The Headhunter" who has a crazy 78.57 save percentage on the season.
Atletico check in tied for last place in the Academy. They have scored 3 less goals than any other team and has allowed the third most. Not exactly a recipe for winning. DM Alessio Calvatore Legend has been Atletico's main facilitator this season, completing 92% of his passes, including 7 key passes. M George Gordan Legend has been their top scorer, putting 4 of his 11 shots into the net. GK Manuel Neuer Legend has been the man in the net for Atletico this season, coming in with a 6.53 rating, ranking in the lower half of the league, and making a save on 61% of shots on goal.
Prediction:
IST 3 - MED 1
Stockholm IK
vs. Victoria Falls
Stockholm enters week 9 sitting at second in the Academy ranking with a record of 5 wins, 2 losses, and a draw. The only thing keeping them behind Victoria Falls to this point is goal differential. M Aimo Talli Legend has been one of the most efficient players in the Academy to this point in the season, averaging a 7.7 rating through 8 games. M/AM Dennis Van Huntelrooy can't be stopped scoring this season, putting 9 balls into the net. Sitting in the net for Stockholm is Meow enBach, the most efficient GK in the Academy this season with a minimum off 300mins played. enBach has stopped a beautiful 74% of shots on goal to this point.
Victoria Falls comes in with a mirror image record to Stockholm, 5-2-1, but has scored 12 more goals on the season than any other Academy team. D Alex Pena has been extremely efficient this season, currently holding a 7.61 average ranking with 7 assists scored on the season. AM Nacho Kusora has scored as many as, or more than, two other Academy Teams by himself! The big surprise when looking at the output from this Victoria Falls team is that their GK Umaq Yupanqui has really been playing at a less-than-average pace compared to other GKs, but that doesn't matter when your offense is lapping all other teams in scoring. This should be the most entertaining matchup of Week 9.
Prediction:
VFE 4 - SIK 2
PS Jakarta vs. Adowa Accra FC
PS Jakarta has been hanging on in the middle of the pack for the season, sitting in 5th place at the moment. Their record currently sits at 4 wins, 3 losses, and a draw. D Jonas Thessenbitz Legend has been the star for Jakarta, averaging a clean 7.38 rating, and winning 21 of 23 tackle attempts. GK Elmis The Heretic Legend hasn't been playing too bad either, coming into week 9 with a 6.88 rating, but he's going to need to stop a few more shots (62% save) if Jakarta wants to make a push down the stretch.
Adowa Accra has been having a solid season to this point. Through 8 games they are sitting in third place with a record of 4 wins, 2 losses, and 2 draws. DM Che Youz has been their most efficient player to this point, averaging a 7.7 rating per game and scoring 5 goals and 3 assists for the season. GK Albert Flowers has been playing in the net admirably this season, saving 2/3 shots on goal for the season and averaging a 6.79 rating on the season. This looks to be the second most entertaining of the Academy matchups in week 9.
