Minors Pre-Season MD1 + MD2
I thought it would be fun to keep track of everyone from the Academy Class of S25/Rookies of S26, throughout the season. So I’ll be posting these little weekly match reports with the focus purely on us rookies, so we can see how we’re all doing.
I’ll go through each of the games each week, highlighting all of the positive involvements as opposed to any bad ones, so as to keep it more positive rather than a grilling, as I think it’s likely there will be more bad or average performances, especially to start with, than good ones! But you never know.
Minors Pre-Season MD1:
Rapid Magyar SC – 2 
Krung Thep FC – 3
We started off with a five goal thriller in the first pre-season game of the new season, with seven rookies making their debuts for their new clubs.
Owen Bryant (7.0 rating) was the first to announce his arrival on the pitch, getting on the end of a cross for a simple tap in to pull Magyar level.
S Sei (6.9) then scored an absolute rocket from outside the area to put Magyar 2-1 up just after the hour mark.
Inter London – 2 
F.C Kaapstad – 1
Another match stacked with rookies; two for London and six for Kaapstad. And despite being on the receiving end of the loss, two of Kaapstad’s new boys combined just before the stroke of half-time.
Felix Pedro (7.4) putting it on a plate for Dante Von Wolfe (7.2) for their first goal and assist in their new colours.
Nick Kasak (7.0) also ended his first run-out solidly with 4 key passes, and 2 clear cut chances.
AS Paris – 3 
North Shore United – 0
Another 6 rookies made their debuts in what turned out to be a one-sided affair between these two teams, as Paris shot into a three-goal lead within the first 38 minutes of the game, and they must’ve been delighted with how their new recruits started.
Owen Goal (7.4) doing exactly what he says on the tin, notching a goal on his first run-out with a simple tap in after the ball was squared to him.
Saba Kvekvetsia (7.2) and Ignignokt (7.0) also had good debuts, clocking up 4 clear cut chances between them, with the latter also helping the team keep a clean-sheet in their opening pre-season game.
AF Masques Sacres – 1 
Cairo City – 2
This game was definitely the most rookie-fied, with thirteen(!) players making their debuts. But only a couple stood out in what turned out to be a tight match-up.
Striker Leonardo Stone (7.1) notched an assist 4 minutes in on his first outing.
Isaiah Ali (7.0) was also solid with 1 key pass and 1 clear cut chance for his team.
Athenai FC – 1 
Montreal United – 2
Eight more rooksters pulled on their new strips, including the three ‘McGlynn brothers’ (have we got an official name for the trio yet? And if not, why?).
Of course, ‘Mr 1OA’ himself, Barry McGlynn (8.0), finished the game with 1 assist and the Player of the Match award on his first run-out.
His brother Bruce McAllister (7.6) also had a very good debut, scoring what turned out to be the winner in the 28th minute, with a lovely curled effort into the top corner on his left foot.
Seoul MFC – 0 
CS Rova Mpanjaka – 4
The final game of Pre-Season MD1 in the Minors, saw our final 5 rookies making their debuts.
Jack Pow (7.1) got himself a late goal a few minutes from the end to wrap up a comfortable win for Rova.
Slabko Plackovic (7.1) was also solid in the midfield helping the team to a clean-sheet and with 1 clear-cut chance created and a 95% passing accuracy.
Minors Pre-Season MD2:
Cairo City – 1 Seoul MFC – 2
For Cairo, goalkeeper Umaq Yupanqui (7.0) got himself a solid rating, despite conceding two goals, and helped keep Seoul at bay, in a game they had 11 shots on target in.
Seoul’s wonderkid STAR SCREAM (8.3) picked up an assist, laying it off to a teammate (whom I shall not name, as this is our moment guys) who did the rest on his own to bring the score level.
And Jayson Bryzski (7.0) got the assist for the winner in the 76th minute of the game. Picking out the same teammate who scored the first, who curled a peach in to the top corner.
CS Rova Mpanjaka – 3 Athenai FC – 1
Another solid performance from Slabko Plackovic (7.0) helped his side to their 2nd win from 2 games, with 100% of his tackles won.
Goalkeeper Moew EnBach (7.0) despite conceding 3 goals, finished on a respectable rating due to some fine stops, preventing the deficit from being bigger.
Montreal United – 2 AF Masques Sacres – 3
Another five-goal thriller, and those pesky brothers were at it again. But it wasn’t enough as it was Masques Sacres who came out as victors.
Sadie Black (8.3) finishing with 1 assist and SIX clear cut chances, showing they’ll be a threat from the right-back position.
Saphira Brightscales (7.1) on the opposite flank also has a solid game creating a chance of their own and winning 100% of their tackles.
Isaiah Ali (7.2) had another solid game in the centre of the park with a 94% pass completion.
For their opponents, Bruce McAllister (7.2) scored a carbon copy of his goal from the previous match, showing that if you give him the time and the space he will capitalise on it.
Not one to let any of his brothers have the spotlight for too long, Barry McGlynn (7.2) also continued his impressive start at Montreal, this time managing to build on the previous game, this time grabbing a goal of his own.
North Shore United – 2 Rapid Magyar SC – 2
Kairo Vox (7.9) scored his first goal, of what I’m sure will be many, for his new team, getting his head on the end of a delightful cross by fellow rookie Alex Pena (7.4), who will be hoping he can replicate his academy form. Vox went on to grab an assist too, to round of a great performance as we head into the season proper.
On the opposing side, Owen Bryant (7.1) carried on his solid start also racking up an assist.
Krung Thep FC – 3 Inter London – 1
Krung Thep’s lone draftee Blaise N’Kufo (7.9) got off the mark for his new club in their win over Inter London, with a nice assist for his teammate.
For Inter London; Maurjiro Rivers (7.1) finished on a solid rating thanks to a 93% pass completion and a 100% tackles completion.
F.C Kaapstad – 3 AS Paris – 3
Goals galore in this one and plenty of action for our draftees.
Saba Kvekvetsia (7.9) started things off, with a lovely assist, before grabbing a goal as well later in the game.
Igniknokt (7.6) proved he can do a job at both ends with a nice goal.
And at 3-0 up, Paris must’ve thought it was game-set-match.
But John McDougal (8.0) had other ideas though, going on to bag 2 assists for Kaapstad which netted him the Player of the Match award.
One of those assists was for the wolf-man himself, Dante Von-Wolfe (7.0) who netted his 2nd goal in pre-season and got the comeback started.
Felix Pedro (7.0) also grabbed another assist for his 2nd in as many games.
Joshua Homme III Esquire Limited (7.1) (again, thanks for boosting that word-count), and Owen Goal (7.0) also finished solidly.
