#1 Biography [Open to All Players]
#91
Sebastien Pelletier was born in the city of Rouen, France to a French mother (Alice Pelletier) and a Latvian father (Jāzeps Skalbergs - brother of former professional hockey player in the SHL, Ēriks Skalbergs). From an early age, Pelletier was interested in sports - however, his interest in sports did not start with football, but indeed with hockey - the sport which his uncle played professionally. He would regularly attend Dragons de Rouen home games with his dad - and, occasionally, his uncle would pay to fly them both out to the USA so he could go to SHL games in person. Of course, young Seb wanted to try his hand at the game himself, but there was a problem - he could not skate. He spent many hours over the course of two years just practicing how to skate, even getting some tips from his uncle, but he just... couldn't figure it out. He could barely manage to stand still on skates, but the second he'd have to start moving his legs would turn to jelly. Though, while he was bad at skating, and thus bad at hockey, he would occasionally play floorball (essentially floor hockey, played with a plastic ball) with his hockey player friends - and he realised that he was actually quite good at that. He was good at finding opportunities to get the ball to his teammates even through several defenders, as well as catching everyone off guard with a sudden long range shot that somehow found its way into the goal. He was so good, in fact, that he could have potentially gone pro in floorball instead - but he decided against it, as floorball is a fairly unknown sport in France and so the chances of him actually finding a pro team to play on were slim to none. Football, however, was a very different story, and as Seb would discover, those skills from floorball transferred over to football very well. He was soon scouted by Paris Saint-Germain, and enrolled into their academy - he would regularly have to take the train from Rouen to Paris and back, just so he could get to practice. He was set to become one of PSG's brightest stars in the future - however, disagreements with his coaches led to him leaving the club. Not knowing where to go next, Pelletier set his sights on the SSL - the newest major football league in the world, signing himself up for the Season 4 Entry Draft.

APPROVED

Nobody really knows where Elmis the Heretic was born. Maybe he actually came from the pits of hell as his name suggests. Anyways, from the young age he really was doing some bad stuff. Like robbing a bank or hit a person from nowhere? Easy. Truly some bad sins he has done in his young days....not only young though. Living up to his name truly.

As for his football career. For the most part of his youth career he was keeping it lowkey by spending his time in lower tier Latvian leagues. Third or second division - these were his playgrounds. And oh boy, he was doing some weird and inconsistent things there. One day he could be a world class goalie and make opponents question their career choises. The next game, he could as well as be the certified Swiss cheese of all goalies and make his teammates question his true skillset. You could say that he was commiting a sin to opponets one day and to his opponets the next game. As the result of this, his teams usually never managed to get a promotion to the higher tier because his inconsistency....so I guess he was hurting his teammates more.

This is the part where we would've ended it all, but something interesting happened. He was started to be metioned on more mainstream sports media, but not because of his skills. You see, he became bald in pretty young age, hence his nickname was literally a Bald Devil. Someone saw his looks and decided to put on Tik Tok. I think the rest is the history. He was even invited to play for the top Latvian divison team due to his increased popularity. Instead, he did another out of nowhere move and decided to declare for the upcoming SSL draft despite the Latvian football leagues season being at the midway point. Well, yet another nasty move in his sin collection. I'm kind of sure the reason of that is because the SSL world is knowing nothing about his interesting character so he has more chances to not go undrafted. Looks like he is ready to take over the world. And I'm not even sure in which way. I don't think he knows either. Good luck to any team that will draft him hehe.

APPROVED

Joao was born in Brazil, which as everyone knows is a football mad country. From a young age, he was enthralled with the sport and knew he wanted to make a living playing the game he loved. After playing on various youth clubs in his hometown, he signed with a club in Yorkshire at the age of nineteen. Since then, he's played all over Europe and the rest of the world. From there he was to Estonia, back to England and surrounding areas. Shortly after, he made the jump across the pond to Canada, joining the newly formed Canadian Premier League playing for the Halifax Wanderers. With this new club, he knew that he would be taking on a much bigger role than he had ever had before. He'd be counted on to score a ton, and really lead the offence. From the jump, Morelli was everything Halifax imagined and then some. In his first season with the club, he scored 14 goals, leading the club and the league. Winning the golden boot was a huge accomplishment for Morelli, and he signed on for two more seasons. Seeking a league title, he was confident the team would grow around him. Unfortunately for Joao, tragedy struck during his second game of the season when he planted his foot and injured his knee. Immediately fearing the worst, he was helped back to his team's locker room, where a series of tests were done and they confirmed that he had torn his ACL. Just two games into the season in which Joao thought he'd be able to bring Halifax their first Canadian Premier League, he was done and couldn't help them with their season goal. From the sidelines he watched as Halifax brought in a new forward, Mour Samb, and saw the teams need for him fading. Due to the small salary cap in the league, the team declined Joao's 2nd year team option and decided to stick with the less of a health risk in Samb. So Morelli sought employment elsewhere, and decided to bring his talents to the SSL. A pure goal scorer, Morelli will look to make an impact right away leading an offence, and hopefully make his dream of a championship come true.

374 words

APPROVED

My name is Oden and I was born to boil.

Born in the outskirts of Nagoya, Japan, Oden was raised in the streets.
Despite having a good lineage with his father, his father, and his father before him being leading figures in the community, that was not the life for Oden. He wanted to be free, which is rather hard being in the spotlight all the time. This led Oden to do pretty much whatever he wanted all the time, something that definitely did not sit right with his father. His mother's last words before she died when Oden was only a couple of months old, were as follows: "Oden my brave big boy, follow your heart". And so he did.

Oden had always been a big boy for his age and being big usually comes with a reputation from people that don't know you. Therefore he gained a lot of respect without really doing anything, which gave him even more freedom to do whatever he wanted.

A short summary of his life until now is as follows.

When he was not even a year old yet, he sent his nanny flying.
When he was two, he caught two rabbits at once.
When he was four, he threw a boulder and knocked out a bear!
When he was six, he spent all his time at the pleasure halls, wasting his family's money.
When he was eight, he went to a gambling parlor by himself and started a brawl with some hot-blooded gamblers.
When he was nine, he was blacklisted by Yakuza and repaid them by setting their gambling parlor on fire, instigating a gang war.
Then he got arrested for assault. That was at age 10. While serving his time at the quarries, he showed his ability, he even became a master stonemason!

After that, he came back on the street as a better person.

When Oden was 14 years old the community suffered a drought. Wells dried up and he could not stand watching people suffer. So he changed the river's course and made it flow to the community. However, it caused a massive flood and an arrest warrant was issued again.
He tried to flee from the country through the channel but he failed miserably.
Then when he was 15, he strong-armed a mountain temple master and stayed hidden there. He brought back women from the capital every night and formed a harem! (It should be added that all those women were always free to leave)
But some people became furious and stood up. They were those women's boyfriends, parents, and husbands. A group of strong thugs backed them up! Oden welcomed their challenge and fought back, this triggered what is to be known as the "Harem War".

After all of this, his father had finally had enough. He disowned Oden and vowed that Oden would never have any rights to his family's history. There are countless more tales of Odens journeys after that. He finally managed to leave the country in which he was born, but he promised to come back to save the country from what he feels is unjust leadership, where people go hungry and in many places are treated unfairly.

His travels led him to see many different places and he realised how big the world actually is. After testing many different things, he found a love for football. A sport that is truly for everyone and that anyone can afford to practice. With Oden's physical attributes, which he usually tries to hide at first, he would see himself becoming a natural talent. When he saw an ad for the SSL, he decided to go for it.

APPROVED

A native of Atlanta, Georgia, Dogwood Maple was raised in a sports household. His father, Oak, was a strong athlete in his own right, playing basketball at the highest level in both the United States and Europe. Dogwood's mother, Lily, was the true star athlete of the family, however. She won two Olympic gold medals and one World Cup as a member of the United States Women's National Team. She was a famous midfielder for the United States and it's because of her that young Dogwood first found his love of soccer. After playing on various travel teams in his youth, he attended Midtown High School in Atlanta and truly began to shine. He started his career as a midfielder but was forced to a forward role due to injuries on the team, and it didn't take him long to truly make his mark as a striker. In his first game as a forward, he netted two goals and established himself as a true natural at the position. He went on to lead the region in goals and led Midtown High School to their first region title in school history.

After a nail-biting victory in the state semifinals, Midtown faced off against their cross-town rivals in the State Championship. After both sides played 85 minutes to a 0-0 stalemate, Dogwood had an open chance on goal but before he could fire, an opposing defender flew in and dirtily tackled him inside the eighteen. A penalty was awarded and Maple had a chance to all-but win the State Championship for his team with a penalty kick. He carefully placed the ball on the spot and prepared his run up...he struck the ball cleanly, but was robbed by the goalpost. The ball fell harmlessly out of bounds and the game went to extra time and ultimately penalty kicks, which Midtown lost. While Maple was surely one of the main reasons they had even made it that far, he nonetheless shouldered the blame for their loss. It was that heartbreak that fueled Maple's work in the offseason and why he vowed to help Midtown return to the State playoffs and bring home the title.

Just three short years later, Maple's goal was met and he held the Championship trophy high above his head with tears streaming down his face with the fans and players singing their fight song in unison. Having tasted victory, Maple vowed to repeat the feat at the professional level and bring a title home to his new club, C.F. Catalunya.

(421 words)

APPROVED

Leif Physt's youth on Bornholm Island was dominated by the three Fs. Farming, Fishing, and Football. Born to dairy farmers, life was about as hard working but mundane as ever. Helping on the farm with herding cattle, milking, and haying with a head down, fly at her attitude.

Getting away to the river, lake, or coast to fish was seen as an escape of sorts. On his own to think and dream. At the age of seven, him and his family were gifted a flat screen tv from his uncle Richard Physt, of SHL fame. Having such a clear, consistent picture allowed the young Dane to watch some of the biggest names in Football. It is here that his early passion developed into an obsession.

Due in part to his ever growing strength and size on the farm, Leif was always athletically inclined. But a reminder of his goals in life, always came whenever his Uncle would come around. Having a wealthy uncle opened the doors for Leif to see the world of professional sports. The levels of training and nutrition required, the mindset and drive to achieve. Not to mention just the atmosphere. Just getting to go to bigger cities like Copenhagen and Aalborg to watch teams play in the Danish Superliga or even being flown to watch Champions League games LIVE were the opportunities of a lifetime.

Having this small taste always served as that window with which Leif could feel that the drive to play Football professionally was indeed achievable. It fed in perfectly to his natural, almost bullish drive to compete. Never one to back down or give up until the final whistle. Leif could always be counted on to help out on any team both on the playground, or on proper school teams as he grew up.

Joining teams in school meant a chance to feel the pace of actual league schedules. Practices, training, games, travel. All of it served to build the young farmboy's experience with exactly what being a Footballer would mean. It also allowed him to get to meet people and interact with more than just his small island of 39,000.

APPROVED

Yves Mathieu was born in Châtenay-Malabry, France to a loving mother and father before moving to Créteil, France shortly after his birth. His mother was born in Côte d'Ivoire, immigrating to France in early 2003 to avoid the civil war. His father was a professional football player himself, playing as a striker for US Créteil-Lusitanos in the French 2nd and 3rd tiers for many years. Yves attributes his love of the game from a young age to his father, saying that most of his earliest memories are of himself and his mother watching his father play, and getting to run on the pitch after practice. Once he was old enough, he would play keep away with his father and some of his teammates, with them teaching him some simple skills. To his father’s dismay he took to the defensive side of the game much better than the offensive. He would spend hours in the nearby park with friends playing games, and quickly stood out amongst them as an exceptionally talented player.

US Créteil quickly brought him into their youth academy at the age of 12 where he began to attract the attention of bigger clubs. After discussing several options, he chose to move to Newcastle’s youth academy in the English Premier League at the age of 13 with his mother. While performing exceptionally well, he only lasted six months in the United Kingdom before he became homesick, partially due to his English not being good enough for his liking. He would complete another move to Reims, where he stayed until just before his 17th birthday.

Yves would go on to play for the French U19 squad at only 16 years old and excelled despite his young age. Whilst this happened, Reims promoted him to the reserve squad, but refused to promote him to the senior squad despite their mid-table placement and his belief that he could help the team. In turn, Mathieu refused to renew his contract with them and on his 17th birthday announced his intention to enter the SSL draft, a decision that shocked many in the football world. Gambling on this new gimmick would pay off however as the worldwide league recognized his obvious talent, and he was highly touted entering draft day. Montreal United would select Yves 7th overall and have already given him plenty of opportunity to showcase his skills early in the preseason matches.

APPROVED

Matthew Mayhem was born into unconventional circumstances. The son of two veteran circus workers, he was destined for a life of red noses and unicycles.

Unfortunately his mother perished shortly after his 6th birthday in a tragic clown car accident. She was the 9th passenger in the 2 seat banana shaped vehicle that was viciously attacked by a group of Orangutans during a show in a sold out Arena. 35,000 people, mostly children, looked on in horror as Mrs. Mayhem (whose given name was actually Buttercup) and 8 other clowns met their demise.

Matthew’s father, affectionately known as Juggy “McJuggles” Mayhem, who was the most decorated juggler in the traveling group managed to fend off the Orangutans with his 3 flaming soccer balls before they were able to harm any of the terrified onlookers. It was at that moment, in what Circus historians coined “The Big Top Massacre” that Matthew knew it wasn’t a life of honking his nose and clown makeup that would define his life. Matthew knew that he had to break away from the family tradition and make something more of his life. He extinguished one of his fathers balls and began kicking it around and fell in love with the beautiful game.

After the tragic death of Mrs. Buttercup Mayhem, Juggy and Matthew set off to start a new life for themselves and put that tragic day behind them. Juggy became a renowned Juggling Gigolo, where he put his unique set of skills to work making a decent living and providing Matthew with everything that he could hope for throughout his childhood. Matthew had his troubles, as any young boy who saw his mother killed by circus animals would have. Luckily by high school he had turned his thirst for stealing from small children and kicking people in the groin into a love for the sport of soccer. He found that kicking a soccer ball was more fulfilling than kicking the balls of old men and signed up for a local rec league. Matthew excelled as one of the best defenders in the state of Massachusetts, and eventually earned a spot on a local traveling youth club and caught the eye of professional teams around the world.

Days before Matthew was to be drafted into the SSL, his father Juggy pulled over to assist a woman changing a tire on the side of the road in the woods in a small town about an hour outside of Boston. Just as Juggy stood up to tell the woman that she was all set, she peeled off her face to reveal that she was actually the offspring of one of the Orangutan’s that Juggy has killed years ago in the Big Top Massacre. The Orangutan made quick work of the defenseless Juggy before making off into the tree tops, never to be seen again.

News made it to Matthew as he gathered with friends waiting to see where he would be drafted, and at that moment Matthew Mayhem vowed to become one of the most feared defenders in all of the SSL and honor his parents in the only way that he knew how, by kicking soccer, and his opponents, balls.

CODE

533 words

APPROVED

Eirlys Snooks was born in Swansea, Wales. She comes from a very athletic family where her younger brother, Conner, ended up being an underdog talent that eventually wound up in the SHL. Her family lived near the coast and went sailing a lot when she was younger. Eirlys had always stuck to football. She loved it. She loved defending. An underrated art that if you’re good at it, goes unnoticed. She ended up struggling with behavioral issues in school in the UK and was sent to a boarding school/military academy for women in the Berkshires in the United States. She didn’t mind the strict routine there. It actually helped her get through school. She even still got to continue to play football. Her team was never really good, but Eirlys never minded. She was always very passionate about playing. Sometimes getting her into trouble with the ref and other teams. Tended to rub people the wrong way on the pitch. But was pretty quiet and reserved off the pitch. During her senior year. A reckless challenge from Helena Soderberg, who attended nearby private school, left Eirlys with a torn ACL. Eirlys spent two years after high school recovering to full strength before being able to play again. On the bright side she was able to be home in Swansea after being gone for four long years. She got to sail again, which she loved almost as much as football. And during recovering she was able to volunteer as a coach for the Swansea University team in the lower Welsh divisions. During that recovery she learned a lot about the game. Beginning to see it from an outside perspective. Also was able to just take time to breathe and relax. Get her head straight. When she felt ready, she eventually returned. Playing for years for her local Swansea women's team in the Welsh league system. Eirlys played for the Swans for about a decade before the SSL was founded. She missed the first class. Not really generating enough interest from scouts during Season 1. Some saying she was too old and slow. It put a chip on her shoulder. During that season in Wales, she played out of her mind for the Swans. SSL teams started to take notice and scouts and agents started saying she would be drafted high before Season 2 in the SSL. Time will only tell then.

APPROVED

Manny Calavera was born in Miami in 1901 into a Mexican family. The sport of football (soccer) was mildly popular in the US and was growing throughout Manny's youth, and, being born into a Mexican family, Manny was surrounded by the sport, especially in the Latin American neighborhoods where he grew up. He laced up for the first time very early on in his life playing for a local boys club, Club Deportivo Havana Americano, where he played until he left for University in 1921. Manny played midfield throughout the entirety of his youth career never once even trying his hand (or foot?) at another position. The midfield felt like home to him. He wasn’t fast or strong enough to be an effective forward, nor was he tall or focused enough to be a defenseman, but he did have the ability to read the game extremely well and worked harder than most of his peers, and as he grew up playing with other Central Americans primarily he also, naturally, incorporates quite a lot of finesse or style into his game. During University Manny continued to play for local clubs and for various intramural teams but prioritized his education. Upon his graduation, Manny immediately went to work in sales for a local firm and decided to quit playing sports in an effort to focus solely on his career. Despite this, Manny never lost his love for football, still passionately supporting his Family’s home state club of Hidalgo, CF Pachuca, until his death in 1972.

In the afterlife Manny was subjected to decades of purgatory, working for the Department of Death, until his arduous 4-year journey with Glottis, finally reaching the Ninth Underworld. Upon reaching the gates he was offered a single wish to be granted by the gods of the underworld. Manny, in a move that surprised even himself, wished to play football again. An unusual wish to be sure but one that was easily granted. The gods allowed Manny to sign, and play for any football club at any level and would be allowed to return to the land of the living for matches and practice in the form of a reanimated skeleton. So, Manny set off to find a new club. Initially, he landed at a small amateur club in Mexico where he played on and off for 3 years before signing to Orlando F.C in Honduras where he played for 5 years as a squad player. Manny, being undead, was of great use to many teams, requiring minimum salary, he was never injured and was forbidden from doing anything other than play football, keeping him free of controversy and other setbacks that so frequently befall other players. Eventually, though Manny wanted a new challenge, somewhere he could really make his mark. One day, while practicing with his team in Honduras, he saw a billboard on a passing bus; “nueva forma de experimentar el fútbol… El SSL!’. Manny was immediately intrigued and declared his interest in the season 4 prospect draft where he was selected by Montreal United. The rest is yet to come…

CODE

517 Words

APPROVED
