Charlie was born deep in football country. American football country, that is. Jackson, Louisiana, which is about a half-hour drive north from Baton Rouge. He wasn't much of an athlete at a young age. While most of his friends wanted to be football players, Charlie was more interested in comic books, or dreaming about the mysteries of space.
At 11, his family moved to St Paul, Minnesota after his mother took a research position at the University of Minnesota Med School. With such a long-distance move, his parents insisted he take up a sport at his new school to help him meet new people and make friends. When he entered 7th grade he decided to give soccer a try. He took to it immediately, and it quickly became a big part of his life.
While he enjoyed the sport, he didn't take it all that seriously in the beginning. He worked hard in practice, but mostly because he was having fun. Improving or being successful was not even on his mind until he entered high school. In high school, the players and coaches took things much more seriously. The change in attitude forced Charlie to take a long look at everything he was doing, and he realized it made him enjoy soccer even more. Having specific goals regarding skill development, technique, and strategy, and focusing on success in competition drove him in a way he had never experienced. In particular, he found he enjoyed the physical training, especially when he started seeing the results. The sense of physical progression was addictive.
From the start, he was often the biggest, strongest, and fastest kid on the field. Once he sprouted and started taking his weight training seriously, people began to notice him. He started getting some attention from competitive youth clubs, offering him better competition and opportunities to improve that his public school team couldn't. He suddenly saw a path to making this a long-term part of his life and feed his addiction to physical improvement.

Sam Volta isn’t not an ordinary hedgehog. We all know that Volta looks like Shadow the Hedgehog but created by Tails over 20 years ago. Indeed, it was part of a project that Tails and I (as a human) decided to do to see if cloning works with today’s science. Today’s science is well advanced in the DNA technology, which with PCR and DNA switching, you can easily create a new copy of genes, which wasn’t here in the 90’s when some scientists created Dolly, a real sheep. Well, it works because Tails is really smart. That’s how Volta is created.
Volta did a lot of sports before beginning soccer. He did Ski and Hockey (which in Hockey, he is one of the best newest players in the SHL at the time). He is still coaching alpine ski in Green Hills because skiing is good for the speed and the flexibility of the lower body. When Volta learned soccer, at first, it was more about how to learn the tactics before playing in the pitch. Because soccer is also a tactic game, like hockey or American football. Also, Volta isn’t the guy who will go full on tackle mode or sprint to make a shot. He is more like an attacking ignition that makes some saucer passes for their teammates so they can make some goals.
Volta is a superstar in the Sonic’s franchise. In fact, before joining the league, he was the best player in the Virtual Soccer League (which groups a lot of video game franchises in one single league). He helped his team to win 11 Soccer League trophies and 13 Hockey Cups before coming in the real world. In the Virtual Soccer League, Volta made 138 goals and 379 assists in only 11 seasons. In the Hockey Virtual Game League, he made 1279 goals and 1834 assists in his 13 seasons.
Now that Volta is entering in this new league, he wants to prove all the soccer fans that video game characters are actually good at playing sports.
APPROVED - nice alternate universe. Hopefully the SSL and VSL can have some crossover friendlies.

Benecio Aguilera III was born and raised in the wonderfully colorful city of Tijuana, Mexico. Like any kid growing up there, soccer was a huge part of his childhood. His dad, Benji Aguilera, met Benecio's mother there while he was playing in the Developmental Football league, so Benecio came from a family with an athletic background. He was one that took to soccer as a safety blanket, something he was good at and where he didn't need to think about what else is going on in the world.
While Benecio was fairly athletic growing up, he took pride in being the best goalkeeper that his childhood town has ever seen. Watching his opponents get off their rocket shots and yet they couldn't get it past Benecio was something he took great pride in. In high school, Benecio set many records for his school in regards to blocked shots, goals allowed per game, and penalty kicks blocked. He was a competitor through and through. Everyone knows that Benecio is destined for greatness. So after high school graduation, Benecio wanted to get a start to his soccer career and is hoping to catch on to a professional team after doing 1 year in the Academy. He hopes to learn even more tricks to help him out when he faces REAL professionals. He just hopes the world is ready to watch his greatness!
Benecio knows a thing or two about putting in all the hard work needed to excel. Growing up in Tijuana didn't leave him and his family a lot of opportunities to live a life of leisure. He quickly picked up any odd job he could, such as newspaper delivery or farmhand. And he always wanted to be the best at whatever he did. All of his experiences have shaped who he is today and who he wants to be going forward. There is no limit to what Benecio wants to accomplish.

Alex Calderon was born in sunny southern California to a pair of middle managers with plenty of optimism and little else. Luckily, he was able to display his natural ability on the field alongside teammates from more prominent families drawing scouts to the pitch. With scouts already in attendance, it was up to Alex to show that he deserved their attention alongside the players that they originally came to see. It worked, and Alex was invited to various youth camps and academies as he continued to develop his skills eventually earning caps for multiple private exhibition teams. He focused on shutting down opposing attackers as they entered the box and suffocating the attack. With a penchant for being in the right place at the right time, Alex was able to be deployed almost anywhere in the backfield and was able to hold his zone down. Despite offers from various team academies, Alex decided he wanted to attend university before committing to a career in sport.
Calderon was offered a scholarship to play for UCLA which he happily accepted. He made forty-eight appearances in his three year career and scored seven goals as a Bruin before taking a few years off to finish his education in sports psychology. After finishing his degree, he returned to private academies to continue improving as a player before putting in his application for the SSL Academy teams. He was worried that his time off would be detrimental to his chances to make it in to such a prestigious academy, but luckily he was accepted and eagerly awaited his placement on one of four academy teams. Being an American player who had never played outside of the United States, he was excited at the prospect of moving abroad and playing all over the world for his new team. He looked forward to the opportunities to learn and get better at his sport and also to meet new people and visit new places.

Who is Bartholomew Twinkletoes? Well, for that answer, we must go back to when he was a young boy. Bartholomew was born into one of the richest families in the east, the Twinkletoe family. They had gained their wealth through venture capitalism soaring high above the rest of the world they were soundly in the top 1%. Bartholomew's father Benjamin was at the center of it all. He was the power player, he was the money maker, he was the decision maker. So when his venture capitalist company took a risk in investing in a business that was attempting to prove aliens exist in the core of the Earth disaster struck. There was a major accident at one of the digging sites and lawsuit after lawsuit came after Benjamain's company until eventually he was nearing bankruptcy. He had to find some way to bring in more money and a lightbulb went off as he switched the channel on his 5D TV to the soccer match for his favorite team.
This is where Bartholomew comes in. Bartholomew (NEVER to be called Bart), was living the high life with the rest of his family oblivious as to what was going on at his father's business. He was relaxing on superyachts, hanging out with celebrities, throwing money at anything and everything he wanted without a care in the world. Bartholomew was living the lavish life and was racing around in his super car when he got a call from his father telling him that he had no choice but to enter into a soccer league called the SSL. Bartholomew was surprised by this request and assumed he meant he wanted him to BUY a soccer team but after reiterating the request Bartholomew understood, but was very confused. He was used to wearing fancy hats at horse races, wearing clean all white in tennis matches, and drinking wine while watching Polo. But to watch, no. To PLAY such a dirty and reckless game like soccer? Why would he ever do such a thing?
Before going to the amateur tryouts, Bartholomew was given private lessons by an elite soccer player (who's name has been left out to protect his reputation). Bartholomew was shown each position all of which he refused to participate in, telling the instructor it was "too much work". Finally they arrived in goal and the instructor showed him all he had to do was stand there and put his hands up when the ball came close. THAT was the perfect position for Bartholomew. So now he here is entering an unfamiliar world still not knowing why he has been forced to play this game they call soccer all due to a bad play by his father that he has no idea even happened.

Ben Nelson was born in Christchurch New Zealand, he played football from a young age starting at local club Coastal Spirit FC. He joined the Wellington Phoenix academy at age 16 where he showed promise, even being voted as captain. Nelson started his career as a central midfielder and really excelled at reading the game even early in his career. His passing was his greatest asset, he had an understanding of utilising space and breaking out quickly after making a turnover with a decisive pass. Due to his height compared to his peers he started to be used as a central defender, where his ball playing skills helped him to stand out. Nelson was named in the New Zealand under 17 team and would win the OFC championship with them. It was at this tournament where he would first play in a double pivot role in the 4231 formation that was used.
Nelson made his debut for the Wellington Phoenix mens team at age 19, in a 2-0 win against the Brisbane Roar. He was named in the reserve squad for the New Zealand under 23 team who would compete at the Olympics although he would not play a game. He gained a scholarship to Lees McRae college in North Carolina where he would play division 2 football. After spending a year at Lees McRae he transferred to Stanford University where he played his final two years of college football. He was named Stanford's Most Valuable Player as a junior and an NSCAA All-American as a senior while playing as a defensive midfielder. He graduated with a bachelor's degree in political science.
After his college career Nelson considered entering the MLS draft but issues with his work visa forced him to consider other options, leading to joining the SSL academy where he looks to start his professional career.
APPROVED I'm sure the secret weapon on the pitch is the Political Science degree.

Every second counts. Believe me, I know it better than most. When the age gap between you and your siblings is measured in minutes instead of years, you’d think it wouldn’t matter being the youngest. Well, you’d be wrong.
I’m Dina Skovgaard, fullback for Stockholm Idrottsklubb in the SSL Academy, and I’m tired of coming in fourth.
Don’t get me wrong, I love my brothers and my sister (if you tell them I said that I’ll cut you), but it’s tough enough growing up in a town of under a thousand people without being thought of as the runt of the litter. I was the youngest, and the smallest. Like, really small. Humans aren’t really meant to pop out four at a time, and I came with a whole host of health problems. I think I spent more time in hospitals for the first three years of my life than at home, and I never quite filled out like the rest of my siblings. It’s not fun being the “baby” of the family. Aleks treats me like I’m still six years old, Cas thinks he has to protect me from everything and everyone, and Berit... well, she’s Berit. Being killed with kindness is stifling, and I had nowhere to run.
Then came football. I don’t remember when it all clicked, but one day on the beach something changed, and 2v2 friendlies after school became a battleground. The one benefit to growing up with the three best players in town as your siblings is unlimited practice sessions. I may be small, but it turns out I’m also fast, and that counts for a lot, whether you’ve got two players on a side or eleven. All four of us took to the game like our lives depended on it. Schoolyard games turned into travel teams once we’d exhausted all of Balestrand, and soon enough we had agents knocking on our door to ask about the Academy. I’d say the rest is history, but that’s the chapter I’m writing next.

Bengt Rubin has been in love with soccer since he could make a ball roll on the floor. Scored his first "goal" at home with his soccer toy set before he could walk. But even with this amazing feat at an early age, Bengt developed more into a playmaker as the years went by.
He started playing with the local club at an early age. As early as they allowed kids to start attending organized practice sessions. He's always enjoyed it. Be it the at the club-level or with a few friends at the soccer field near their school. And he's always had a knack for it. It comes pretty easy when you enjoy it so much you don't even get upset when the coach orders you to run around the field for half an hour. Bengt just enjoys the simplicity of being on the field.
As he grew older and things started to get more serious he always stuck to it. Practiced a bit on his own when they had rest days, and went to a lot of soccer camp for when the local club had their off-season. And it's during this time Bengt developed a sense for long and powerful passes. During most of his upbringing he played with a kid named John. John happened to be the coach's son. Which unfortunately, but not completely unfairly, made him the favorite. John was a great striker, but not the best Bengt had ever played with. The coach however thought John was the next Zlatan. And whenever possible the strategy was set up to deliver the ball to John, in one way or another. Which required Bengt to often send high and long passes over the opposition. These were often risky and had a low success rate, but as the years passed this continuous exposure to long passes made Bengt somewhat of an expert.
This is what drew the eyes of a lot of talent scouts around Sweden. He was picked up by a team in the Swedish 2nd tier league and began his journey to be the perfect playmaker. Retrieving balls deep and sending away unbelievable passes, landing right where the striker is going.
APPROVED - long passes - good to know your role early.

Foquita Colapinto is a player from Argentina who fell in love with the game after seeing the U20 World Cup in South America. Seeing all the players from so many countries compete and the roar of the crown gave him a such a thrill and rush that he had to get involved. Foquita tried out for many local teams, just finding wherever and whenever to get himself some game time and eventually found himself playing for a tiny club that was more of a social gathering and community center than one built to grow players into professionals. Unfortunately for Colapinto, when a round of scouts where going through Pila, his hometown, to look at potential players, he was injured and was unable to show up and showcase what he could do. With such a disadvantage, Colapinto learned to edit videos with his friends, working on skills and reels to have something to try and catch the attention of scouts and clubs.
Through the videos, Colapinto was able to find himself practicing with a much larger local club, being invited to trial with their U16 squad as they were short on some players due to a lack of forward talent that was not maturing as expected. Colapinto, once joining a real club for once found himself voracious for the goal. The higher quality of opponent was thrilling, pushing him to the limit and once he knocked in his first score in a scrimmage at the end of the first practice, he realized that he was going to be chasing the net his whole life.
Foquita Colapinto plays quick and fast, he wants the ball at his feet and wants to score goals and lead the league in that category while getting his winner's medal. Once he found himself as part of a youth academy, there was no stopping him and he'll do what it takes to get to the top.

Hailing from Drum Island in the grand line but originally born in Dublin is the next rising star in the footy world, Chopper Donquioxte. Chopper grew up fighting the harsh snowy conditions of Drum Island so even a rainy night in Stoke cannot get him off of his game. His passion is when it comes to assists. While Chopper has the footwork of a CAM his decision making skills, ability to burst up the side of the field, and defensive prowess make him the perfect wing back for any team needing a boost in the middle-back of their formation. Chopper can play some heavenly through balls and because of that he has a great relationship with many strikers in the league despite often being the one shutting them down when going against him. Chopper spent the majority of his time training on Drum Island wrestling the native creatures of the island. While some may question how this relates to soccer at all, the reality of the situation is that he punted a lot of rabbits in his time and significantly improved his leg speed and physicality when engaging with larger animals. Chopper was first scouted by an Icelandic fisherman who had a connection to the SSL. He was told to develop his skills and traveled up and down the Grand Line playing against some of the top competition in the area such as Wano United, Dressrosa F.C., and Team Zou. Due to his experience playing against some of the top competition in the area he started to gain worldwide notoriety and was eventually tracked down by an American agent named “AJ” about pursuing a career in the sport. Chopper was overjoyed to hear this news and signed for a cheap price of 1000 Berri (local currency). He eagerly awaits his debut in the league.

APPROVED - it's epic to think of random Icelandic fishermen proving to be prescient talent scouts, and wrestling with island creatures as talent development.
