Two months ago, I set out to research and write about the 15 players that have played more than 10 seasons with the Tokyo S.C. and Cairo City organization through S25. All 15 of these legends accomplished incredible things in the SSL, and I was honored to resurface their stories for the league to enjoy each week. This was a massive project that involved compiling stats, reading through the forum archives, interviewing users on discord, and bringing it all together into cohesive narratives, and I am very proud of how the series turned out in the end. I hope you liked following along, and if you want to revisit any of the articles, they are linked below:
The Cairokyo Legends
Part 1: Introduction
Part 2: The Inaugural Center Back Duo – Mike Rup, Squall Vercetti
Part 3: The Major League Cairo Legends – Franco Torres, Pierre Houde
Part 4: The Top Tier of Outside Defenders – Yannick Visser, Jude Greer
Part 5: The Midfield Partnership of the Early Era – Helena Söderberg, Guillaume-Olivier Aubuchon-Touchette
Part 6: The Bearers of the Striker Torch – Sky Ryze, Zlatan Ibruhimovic
Part 7: The Second Wave – Shinji Kaido, Dobby Roobe, Caleb Hayden
Part 8: The Teammates That Span All of SSL History – Emilliano-Yoichi Isagi, Momo Adamu
Part 9: Conclusion
To close the series, I would like to answer one more question: who will be the next to join the ranks of the Cairokyo Legends, and how likely are they to make it? Of the 24 players currently rostered on Tokyo or Cairo City, there are several with good potential to play 10+ seasons with the organization, assuming they keep earning at the same rate and avoid being moved in the upcoming league expansions or trades. Here are my predictions:
Anthony Lee (S16) – 100% chance
Lee has now played with the organization as a defensive midfielder for 10 seasons, locking up the 16th spot as a Cairokyo Legend.
Beaklie Eilish (S16) – 25% chance
Eilish has been in the SSL for 10 seasons and peaked at an impressive 1974 TPE, but she didn’t come to Tokyo until S21. After 2 regressions, she is still up over 1800 TPE, which will take several more regressions to dwindle down, but she will need to stick it out another 5 seasons with the club to meet the 10+ season criteria. Enduring these harsher regressions will be challenging, especially once the limits on physical attributes start to kick in. We will all admire Eilish if she has the tenacity to make it.
Ronflex (S20) – 90% chance
As a defensive midfielder, Ronflex has played all 6 of their professional seasons with Cairokyo. Already up to 1500 TPE with no sign of slowing down, he should hit the start of regression with a healthy bank of TPE, and he will only need to play a couple seasons into regression to hit 10+. Ronflex should also be protected by the team as one of the veteran leaders for the near future, giving him pretty good odds.
Alexis Ramos (S20) – 30% chance
After a period of absence from the team in S23 due to inactivity, Ramos is back and active again, completing her 5th season with the organization in S25. She sits just over 1000 TPE, which will make battling multiple seasons of regression difficult, and needing to go one season deeper than classmate Ronflex as well makes the odds of meeting the Legend benchmark even lower. I'd be happy to be proven wrong on this one!
Daniel Herrera (S21) – 85% chance
The right wing back is in the same position as Ronflex just one season behind. Five seasons so far, 1350+ TPE accumulated, and a commitment to see the rebuild through to the other side, Herrera has a good chance as well as the motive to sustain a career of 10+ seasons with Cairokyo.
Leah Slothinson (S21) – 75% chance
Slothinson’s career so far mirrors Herrera’s, getting drafted together and following the same call-up timeline to the majors. She has earned slightly less TPE and sits at 1150+ at the end of S25, but with regression still a good distance away, she should be in good shape to have a long career too, if the motivation is there.
Killua Zoldyck Jr (S22) – 40% chance
After two seasons with North Shore, Zoldyck Jr came to Cairokyo ready to make an impact. They have completed 2 seasons so far with the organization, so they still need 8 more, but they have been earning well. It’s too early to tell what position they will be in to combat regression, but playing through 4 regression seasons will be difficult regardless of TPE standing.
No Face, Billy Bobby (S23) – 80% 90% chance
This pair of forwards entered the league together and have both been earning at a rapid rate through 3 seasons. Already exceeding or pushing 1100 TPE, they sit high among their draft class and have all the green flags for having a long and loyal career, especially given No Face's role as Assistant Manager for the organization and Billy Bobby's contributions to team strategy. The odds were initially set a bit lower since they are still so early in their careers, but I amended them to account for Billy Bobby going on record saying: “no chance I'm leaving unless I'm forced out!”
Jiang You (S23) – 50% chance
You is a winger that has played 3 seasons with Cairo City so far. They are a slower earner not yet above 850 TPE, but they have been steadily active and project to peak around 1400 TPE. This would be plenty for heading into regression, so the path to playing 10 seasons with Cairokyo is certainly there. It all depends on whether You is committed to having a long run before turning in the boots. I believe it will happen.
S24 and S25 Classes
With only one or two seasons played so far, it isn’t fair to judge the most recent prospects on their probability of becoming Cairokyo Legends just yet. Bodhi Grizz, Juliette Greer, Ekon Ayo, and Vivi Nefertari are among the top earning leaders of their classes, so they do have very strong potential to play out long careers over the next decade. They also have additional interests at heart, such as Juliette’s personal motivation to follow in father Jude’s footsteps and Ekon’s motivation to deliver on the expectations of a first overall draft pick. As long as their early starts hold for a few more seasons, they will be on a strong trajectory.
It will definitely be interesting to look back at this list in S35 and see whether the group of Cairokyo Legends has grown to 16 or to 26. It will likely be somewhere in between, and there will be some great stories of the triumphs and shortfalls along the way. There will also be new players not yet drafted into the SSL that will be on their quest for the honor as well, and I'll be rooting for them just as much.
